Staying Relevant: Adapting Your Social Media Strategy to Trends

Remaining at the forefront of trends is essential to ensure your social media stays relevant and resonates with your audience. Much like journalism emphasizes timeliness, social media is no exception – it thrives on staying current. Particularly for the younger generations, social media serves as a primary source for staying updated on global happenings. Personally, in our fast-paced lives, dedicating time to watch the news or read a newspaper might be a challenge, making social media platforms my go-to for staying informed. In this ever-evolving digital landscape, adapting your social media strategy to trends becomes not just beneficial but necessary. Let's delve into how you can effectively navigate this dynamic terrain to maintain a fresh and engaging online presence.

Regardless of your business's nature, maintaining an active and vibrant presence on social media is crucial. Staying attuned to trends is key for your business's social media strategy. To capture attention and engagement, it's essential to embrace and adapt to the ongoing trends. In our line of work, we invest significant time in analyzing both our and our clients' analytics, while also staying up to date with the latest trends.

Our team recently held a brainstorming session focused on creating compelling reels. Delving into multiple social media platforms, we efficiently devised a multitude of reel ideas within a brief five minutes! Hashtags were a major help when we had our search. We were able to filter through the billions if not trillions of videos to find a ballpark of what we wanted. The power of the hashtag #trending is so unbelievably powerful. It is that simple of a search that can make your profile prosper.

The way we consume media and find businesses has changed significantly just in the past 20 years. I remember when I was little and we needed an exterminator to spray for spiders, we did not look for them on Facebook. We looked in the phonebook! Who knows how old that phonebook was at the time! There were no reviews in the listing, just the company name, number, and address if we were lucky. Today, you can search on Facebook and Instagram for any business. With the touch of a button you can see their products, customer testimonials, emails, website links, pictures, phone number, and so much more! Take a look at our intro on Facebook!

Content Creation

Behind-the-scenes content performs exceptionally well on social platforms, adding a human touch to your brand. It offers a genuine glimpse into the inner workings, fostering a deeper connection with your audience. It is important to have faces that people can recognize. A lot of individuals want to see the processes your business goes through rather than just the final product. Live Q&A or streaming can help with humanizing your brand as well because viewers can see you moving in real time. Through streaming, audiences get to know Creating engaging posts like surveys or polls is a great way to fine tune content that your audience wants to see more of. Polls also engage your clients with your content.

Without a doubt, participating in trends or challenges that could be easily applied to your company is the number one way to stay with trends. Moreover, due to the algorithm, engaging in trending challenges or participating in popular trends directly related to your company is the top strategy to stay in sync with current trends. When viewers discover a video they enjoy, the algorithm encourages them to seek more content using the same sound or hashtag, enhancing your brand's visibility and resonance.

Brand Identity

In the midst of all the trends don't forget to still keep the identity of your brand. It can be very easy to get caught up in all the trends flooding your feed and lose the unique personality that is your company. Balance is key – integrate trends that align with your brand without compromising the authenticity that sets you apart. This ensures that, amid the trends, your brand identity remains strong, recognizable, and resonant with your audience. Your business thrives off of its identity to set it apart from competitors. If all brands looked and did the same thing, there would be no individuality and no trends.
