In June of 2017, I covered my biggest show ever at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado. Standing in front of a stage that took two days to build and over 52,000 fans around me, the adrenaline rush was off the charts.
The evening started off with Volbeat followed by Avenged Sevenfold, not a bad way to start a show. When Metallica took the stage, I’m willing to bet the roar from the crowd could be heard in downtown Denver. They started their set with, “Hardwired” and the music roared out from the stadium which I am sure could be heard for miles.
Since we only get to cover the first three songs, I was crazy excited when their third song was, “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, my all time favorite Metallica song. It’s always extra special when I can cover my favorite songs by the artist. The only issue of the night was when a thunderstorm rolled in and there was a break in the show. It shortened their set by two songs to 16. Metallica finished their set with, “Enter Sandman”. What a song to finish off their night.
This night was thanks to 94.3 KILO radio in Colorado Springs, who I was working with at the time.
