Looking back with Iron Maiden

If a band has been around for close to 50 years, the in’s and out’s, up’s and down’s of their careers can be amazing novels in itself. This is so true of Iron Maiden. The band was created in 1975 by Steve Harris, bassist and primary songwriter. Over the years there were a number of different band members. Today the lineup is as follows:

Steve Harris – bass, backing vocals (1975–present); keyboards (1988, 1997–present)

Dave Murray – guitars (1976–1977, 1978–present)

Adrian Smith – guitars, backing vocals (1980–1990, 1999–present); keyboards (1988)

Bruce Dickinson – lead vocals (1981–1993, 1999–present); piano (2015)

Nicko McBrain – drums (1982–present)

Janick Gers – guitars (1990–present); backing vocals (1990–1993)

The band has released a total of 41 albums,

17 Studio albums

13 Live albums

4 EP’s

7 compilation albums

The top selling album is, “The Number of the Beast” with sales over 20 million copies. I was one of those who bought it the day it hit the record shops.

The first “metal video” on MTV was Iron Maiden from their self-titled album. It was the 16th video to air on MTV with many more to come. I remember calling in sick to work so I could sit home and watch MTV all day. I did not see Iron Maiden live till June of 2010 at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. But, on September 17th, 2022 at Denver’s Ball Arena, I had the great pleasure of covering their amazing show. They will return to Denver at the Ball Arena October 19th 2024. I hope to cover their show again.

Here’s a look back at my photos from their 2022 tour. I hope you enjoy them. Check out the video after the pictures.
